Governor Mwadime reshuffles Taita Taveta County administration to boost service delivery

Governor Andrew Mwadime emphasised that the reshuffle is part of a broader strategy to enhance efficiency, accountability, and responsiveness in the management of county affairs.

Taita Taveta Governor Andrew Mwadime has announced a reorganisation of his county administration, citing the need to strengthen governance and improve service delivery.

The changes, which take effect from this week, he said, are in accordance with Sections 30(2)(e) and 46 of the County Governments Act, 2012, which empower governors to restructure the county executive and public service for effective management of county affairs.

Under the new arrangement, Elizabeth Mbinga, previously County Chief Officer for Youth Affairs, Gender, Sports and Social Services, has been reassigned to the Department of Tourism, Trade, Industrialisation and Culture.

Paul Sindeu, who formerly headed Devolution, Public Service and Administration, will now lead Youth Affairs, Gender, Sports and Social Services. Nashon Chovu Nyali, previously in Trade, Tourism, Culture and Industrialisation, has been moved to oversee Devolution, Public Service and Administration.

This reshuffle follows a series of administrative changes within the county earlier in 2025.

In February, Governor Mwadime dismissed the Health CECM, Gifton Mkaya, following public concerns over remarks he made.

In March, the county’s Finance and Planning Chief Officer was reassigned to a different role, while in April, the governor terminated his Political Adviser after questions were raised about the validity of the adviser’s academic credentials.

These earlier adjustments underscore the administration’s commitment to ensuring that county leadership is properly aligned with service delivery priorities.

Governor Mwadime said the latest changes aim to strengthen leadership in key departments and support the timely implementation of ongoing programmes.

The governor emphasised that the reshuffle is part of a broader strategy to enhance efficiency, accountability, and responsiveness in the management of county affairs.

He also called on county staff and members of the public to extend full cooperation to the officers in their new roles, highlighting that a united approach is crucial for delivering better services to residents.

The announcement was issued through the Office of the Governor via County Director of Communications, Strategy and Government Spokesperson, Alsangi Mchikirwa Ndelejai.
