KPL introduces cash prices for player and manager of the month
The Player of the Month winner will receive Sh50,000, while four players have already been shortlisted. Similarly, four managers are in contention for the Sh75,000 prize award as Manager of the Month.
The Kenya Premier League (KPL) sponsors have spiced up the competition by introducing monthly rewards for the Player of the Month and Manager of the Month.
Football fans now have the chance to vote for the player or coach they believe deserves the award.

Gor Mahia players dominate the Player of the Month nominations, with three of the four nominees from the K’Ogalo camp. The fourth nominee represents their arch-rivals, AFC Leopards.
Player of the Month Nominees
Michael Kibwage (Gor Mahia)
Harambee Stars defender Michael Kibwage has been a consistent presence in Gor Mahia’s backline, starting all seven matches so far.
Under his leadership, Gor have recorded five wins, one draw, and one loss. In his most recent outing, Kibwage made 14 clearances, five interceptions, two blocks, completed 90 per cent of his passes, and registered nine progressive passes, contributing to four consecutive clean sheets.
Vincent Mahiga (AFC Leopards)
Mahiga has been pivotal in AFC Leopards’ resurgence, featuring prominently in their six-match unbeaten run before missing the defeat to Mara Sugar due to illness. Against Mathare United, he scored once and registered 12 clearances, 10 interceptions, 79 per cent pass accuracy, 11 progressive passes, and five blocks.
Sharif Musa (Gor Mahia)
The Harambee Stars forward has been in fine form, scoring twice and providing one assist, including a goal and assist against Kenya Police FC. In that game, he recorded 92 per cent pass accuracy, created five chances, and delivered 13 crosses.
Enock Morrison (Gor Mahia)
The Ghanaian midfielder has been another standout performer.
In his last match, Morrison completed 16 progressive passes, made seven interceptions, four clearances, and won four second balls, while maintaining 90 per cent pass accuracy. His consistency has been key to Gor’s midfield and defensive balance.
Manager of the Month Nominees
Charles Akonnor (Gor Mahia)
Akonnor has guided Gor Mahia to the top of the table with five wins, one draw, and one defeat. Since taking charge, he has reinforced the squad, including the addition of Harambee Stars’ first-choice goalkeeper, and built a solid defensive unit.
In the past month, Gor scored six goals, conceded none, and maintained a 100 per cent winning record with three consecutive victories.
Patrick Odhiambo (Kakamega Homeboyz)
Odhiambo’s side has impressed, scoring nine goals and conceding four, with an 80% win rate and one clean sheet. Kakamega Homeboyz currently sit second in the league after eight matches.
Fred Ambani (AFC Leopards)
Ambani’s Leopards have scored six goals and conceded four over the last month, achieving a 50 per cent win rate and one clean sheet. He has overseen seven matches, with his side sitting fourth despite a recent loss to Mara Sugar.
Charles Okere (Tusker FC)
Tusker FC’s head coach completes the shortlist. Despite a rocky start, the Brewers have shown signs of recovery, scoring four goals and conceding two in the past month, achieving a 50 per cent win rate and two clean sheets.
