A family in Meru County has appealed to Interior CS Kithure Kindiki to intervene and help them locate their 27-year-old kin who went missing under unclear circumstances six months ago.
Euticus Mutuma Michael, a trained teacher, was reported missing on September 10 last year at around 9 PM while working at a wines and spirits shop within Nairobi Central Business District.

Exactly 183 days after the disappearance and despite the family having reported the matter to the police, Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Independent Policing Oversight Authority, Mutuma's whereabouts remain unknown.
The family got wind of their kin's disappearance six days later from his employer who went ahead and filed a missing persons report at Central Police Station.
Mutuma's siblings and parents got concerned after they could not reach him by phone for four consecutive days, prompting them to contact the employer who allegedly confirmed that he had gone missing several days earlier.
"For the first few days, we thought his phone had been stolen or got lost but were worried when we could not reach him for the fourth day in a row," his sister Annabel Muthoni recounted.
Muthoni says a request for tracking of his brother's phone to establish the location of his last communication has also hit a snag.
Their mother, Dorris Kajuju, on December 19 last year, 100 days after the son went missing, wrote to Director of Criminal Investigations Mohammed Amin requesting that the case be handled by an independent office, preferably at the DCI Headquarters along Kiambu road.
"The lacklustre manner in which a serious matter like this one is being handled raises pertinent questions on the professional integrity of the investigations and exacerbates the agony we are facing as parents," the letter read in part.
Two days later, the DCI boss wrote to the Nairobi Region Criminal Investigations Office directing that the matter be investigated and a progress report shared in seven days.
"The Director DCI is in receipt of a letter of complaint from Dorris Kajuju dated December 19, 2023," Amin said in the letter signed on his behalf by Herine Agola.
Mutuma's sister has for umpteen times on her social media accounts shared the agony that the family continued to face as the case drags.
During an interview with The Eastleigh Voice, a dejected Muthoni who yesterday shared an open letter to Kindiki online wondered why other cases of missing persons were being expedited while that of his brother was being ignored.
"It is not the first time I have shared the plight online. I decided to address it to Prof Kindiki hoping that he will take up the case and ensure my brother is found," she said.
The family has questioned why his employer failed to immediately report to the family about their kin's disappearance.
They have also pointed an accusing finger at Mutuma's colleague and an unidentified man he hosted at his home in Roysambu.
"They should have all been interrogated over the disappearance. The employer should have notified us immediately after he went missing if he meant well," Muthoni said.
