President Ruto has said he inherited a struggling economy with inflation at 9.6 per cent, a weak shilling at 162 to the dollar, and just $5.7 billion (Sh736 billion) in reserves. He asserted that since then, the economy has stabilised, forex reserves have doubled to $11.5 billion (Sh1.4 trillion), and the IMF now ranks Kenya as Africa’s sixth-largest economy.
