Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi leads peace mission in Arbajahan after clan clashes

A high-powered delegation of political leaders, elders, professionals, and security officials convened in Arbajahan, Wajir West Constituency, to promote peace and stability in the region.
Led by Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, the mission aimed to de-escalate tensions following recent clashes between two sub-clans that left two people dead.
The delegation included Wajir West MP Yussuf Mohamed Farah, former Wajir West MP Abdikadir Ore, and former Nairobi County Executive Mohamud Dakane. Together, they stressed the importance of resolving the land dispute that had triggered the violence.
Community elders, business leaders, professionals, and members of the County Security Committee echoed the urgent need to end the ongoing hostilities and restore calm.
Governor Ahmed reaffirmed the county government's commitment to fostering peace and coexistence. He praised the community-led efforts that laid the foundation for formal mediation and urged all parties to choose dialogue over conflict.
Abide by reconciliation
"We urge all to abide by the reconciliation and work towards unity. Next time we need to meet here for a development agenda, not mediation," he encouraged.
Following consultations, representatives from both sides agreed to an immediate ceasefire and pledged to continue reconciliation efforts under the guidance of elders and local peace committees.
The peace mission marks a significant step toward restoring calm and stability in Arbajahan.
