School bus carrying 56 learners involved in accident along Kabarnet–Marigat Road

Following the incident, response teams evacuated the affected individuals to a local health facility where they are currently receiving treatment.

A school bus carrying 56 learners was involved in a road accident along the Kabarnet–Marigat Road on Friday evening, prompting an emergency response from the Kenya Red Cross.

In a statement, the humanitarian agency said the bus was also carrying four teachers, but did not identify the school involved. The cause of the accident also remains unclear.

“Kenya Red Cross is supporting response efforts following a road traffic incident involving a school bus carrying 56 learners and four teachers along the Kabarnet–Marigat Road this evening,’ the agency said on X.

“The affected learners and teachers were evacuated to Baringo County Referral Hospital, where they are receiving medical care and psychosocial first aid. The situation continues to be monitored,” the Red Cross said.
