The event will feature eight categories, including the 42km full marathon, 21km half marathon, 10km road race, 21km wheelchair race, 5km family fun run, CEO Challenge, Corporate Challenge and Mombasa Satellite Run.

More than 30,000 runners are expected to take part in the 2026 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon, with participants from more than 100 countries set to join elite athletes, recreational runners and first-time competitors at the 23rd edition of the race.
The marathon will be held on Sunday, October 25, at Uhuru Gardens, with organisers saying this year's event will focus on improving the participant experience through enhanced digital services, access to race information, and support tools for runners.
The event will feature eight categories, including the 42km full marathon, 21km half marathon, 10km road race, 21km wheelchair race, 5km family fun run, CEO Challenge, Corporate Challenge and Mombasa Satellite Run.
The categories are designed to accommodate different groups of participants, from professional athletes competing for top honours to families, corporate teams and runners taking part for fitness and recreation.
"The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon has earned its place among Africa's leading road races and remains Kenya's only World Athletics Road Race Label event,” said David Mwindi, chairman of the Local Organising Committee.
“This year, we are enhancing every aspect of the participant journey, from registration and race-day experience to spectator engagement, to deliver a world-class event for elite athletes, recreational runners, families and corporate teams alike.”
A new digital registration platform will also be available for participants ahead of the 2026 edition, offering access to race information, training resources, route maps and event updates.
The 2026 race follows a strong turnout in the previous edition, which attracted 30,602 participants from 92 nationalities. More than 200 elite athletes competed in the 2025 event, while participation among athletes with disabilities reached 184 runners.
Beyond the race, funds raised will support programmes through the Standard Chartered Foundation, including initiatives focused on skills development, employability and entrepreneurship for young people, women and persons with disabilities. Organisers have set a fundraising target of Sh76 million for the event.
Registration for the marathon is now open through the race's official website.
