The northern counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo are expected to remain dry and sunny over the same period.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a five-day weather forecast warning of moderate to heavy rainfall across several parts of the country from Friday, February 20, through Monday, February 23, with heavy downpours expected in Nairobi.
According to the advisory, Nairobi and counties in the Highlands, east and west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, as well as the Southeastern Lowlands and some coastal areas are expected to experience significant downpours.

Residents in the southeastern lowlands, including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, and the inland Tana River, are advised to prepare for heavy afternoon rains following morning showers and sunny intervals, with nighttime showers.
Coastal counties such as Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale are expected to see lighter rainfall.
The Department has also forecasted similar heavy rains in Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot. Residents are urged to remain vigilant for thunderstorms and the potential risk of flooding, especially in low-lying areas.

In Nairobi County, a woman narrowly escaped death on the Ruai Bypass during the Nairobi floods on February 17, when her vehicle was completely submerged in floodwaters.
A viral video showed the car overturning and being engulfed by water along the roadside, while bystanders frantically called for help. The driver was rescued just in time by bystanders, averting a potential tragedy.
