Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) have arrested three suspects in Mombasa following an intelligence-led raid in Mtopanga, where cannabis sativa valued at approximately Sh6 million was recovered.
The operation, which targeted a two-bedroom house believed to have been used as a distribution base, was carried out after officers acted on a tip-off linking the premises to drug trafficking activities.
According to investigators, officers stormed the house and found three sacks packed with cannabis sativa. The seized drugs weighed about 200 kilograms, with authorities estimating their street value at Sh6 million.

During the raid, police also impounded a Honda motorcycle, registration number KMGA 080F, which is suspected to have been used in the distribution and movement of the narcotics within the area.
Three individuals were arrested at the scene and taken into custody.
Investigators said the suspects are being held as processing continues ahead of their expected court appearance, where they are likely to face drug-related charges.
The recovered cannabis has been secured and will be presented as evidence in court.
The Mtopanga operation adds to a series of recent anti-narcotics crackdowns in the coastal region, where law enforcement agencies have intensified surveillance and targeted suspected supply networks believed to be feeding the local drug trade.
Police have maintained that intelligence gathering remains central to identifying and disrupting trafficking routes, particularly in urban and peri-urban settlements where such activities are often concealed within residential properties.
