A multi-vehicle crash at Salama along the Mombasa–Nairobi Highway has left at least seven people dead and 27 others critically injured after a truck, a bus, two private vehicles and a motorcycle collided near the ACK area.

Traffic along the highway was affected for several hours as recovery efforts continued.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the crash, but investigations have already begun as police continue to secure the area and manage traffic flow.
The crash has once again raised concerns over road safety along the Mombasa–Nairobi Highway, which has recorded repeated serious accidents in recent months.
In a past related incident, former Kenya Primary Schools Heads Association national chair Johnson Nzioka died following a road accident along Mombasa Road. Kenya National Union of Teachers Secretary General Collins Oyuu described him as a key leader who played a major role in education leadership reforms.
“Brother Nzioka was an exemplary, outstanding leader with very distinct diplomatic leadership skills that helped redefine the KEPSHA leadership to a world-class teachers’ association at a time when Education management in the country was undergoing strategic reforms,” Oyuu said in his statement.
