CAF to host two-day Anti-Doping Control workshop in preparation for AFCON 2024

The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) is set to organise a two-day workshop on Anti-Doping Control in Johannesburg, South Africa, this week in preparation for AFCON 2024.

CAF is actively ensuring that all functional areas and divisions are well-prepared for the continent's premier event. The workshop, scheduled for December 5-6, will bring together senior medical practitioners from various parts of Africa. Delegates will delve into the latest developments related to Anti-Doping and other medical concerns.

A total of 41 Medical Doctors, with prior involvement in several CAF and FIFA competitions, will participate in the workshop. The event will be supervised by knowledgeable CAF and FIFA Anti-Doping and Medical Practitioners.

Director of CAF's Development Division Raul Chipenda underscored the meaning of the workshop in keeping African football updated on global developments and trends. "The anti-doping topic is crucial and if not fully understood, can lead to unfortunate incidents that have a direct impact on football in Africa," he said.

Key topics on the workshop agenda include the role of a CAF Doping Control Officer, the introduction of the Doping Control Paperless System, Testing Systems and procedures, as well as discussions on forbidden substances and supplement abuse.
