Nairobi Fight Night returns for third edition at Alchemist

Wex added that Nairobi Fight Night has become a stepping stone for young fighters aiming to turn professional.

The third edition of the highly anticipated Nairobi Fight Night is set to take place on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Alchemist, Nairobi.

Organised by Willy Wex, the event promises an electrifying experience, featuring five fight categories: flyweight, cruiserweight, middleweight, lightweight, and bantamweight.

“This is our third edition of the Nairobi Fight Night. We started in August with the first edition, then had our second in September. In August, we had three fight cards; in September, we had four; and this time, we will have five fight cards,” said Wex, emphasising the event's growth and the opportunities it provides to up-and-coming fighters.

Wex added that Nairobi Fight Night has become a stepping stone for young fighters aiming to turn professional.

“What we have learnt over time is that we have been able to get young people who are inspired and turning professional. Ours is just a stepping stone for fighters because I realised there are fewer fights, especially for those who are starting,” he explained.

The headline event will be a lightweight clash between Samuel Njomo and Raphael Mutua, a match eagerly awaited by fans. Njomo's personal coach, David Kilu, expressed confidence in his fighter’s readiness, stating, “Njomo has prepared well enough and is ready to face his opponent, Mutua. He won his last fight, and I believe he will win again because he is hungry for victory.”

On the other hand, Mutua remains equally determined. “I have prepared for tomorrow’s match for almost a month. My aim is to win the fight,” he said ahead of the showdown.

With the weigh-in completed on Monday at Alchemist, the fighters are ready for an action-packed night.

Samuel Kogeluk vs. Zebedayo Mgogo : Middleweight
