Selected allocations in the 2026/27 budget

The proposed Sh4.8 trillion budget for the 2026/27 financial year prioritises education, which receives the largest allocation of Sh784.5 billion.

The Teachers Service Commission has been allocated Sh424 billion. Other major allocations include Sh252 billion for defence, Sh220.4 billion for roads, and Sh177.2 billion for universal health coverage.

Security remains a key spending priority, with Sh144.7 billion set aside for the National Police Service, Sh63.9 billion for Internal Security, and Sh42.6 billion for the Prisons Service.

The Affordable Housing Programme has been allocated Sh50.6 billion, while sports and tourism will receive Sh45.6 billion.

Other allocations cover key social and development areas, including Sh30.4 billion for the Judiciary, Sh20.9 billion for KEMSA, and Sh10.9 billion for KMTC.

Additional funding has also been proposed for cancer care, medical interns, family planning, cybersecurity, and support for landless citizens, as the government seeks to strengthen service delivery across sectors.
