Iran warns US against new attacks, says war could spread across Middle East region

Iran’s military has warned that any new US attacks on its territory could push the Middle East crisis into a broader regional conflict.

Iranian army spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia said the conflict would not remain contained if the United States continued supporting Israel through military action.

Speaking on Iranian state television, he said Tehran viewed any further US strikes as a step that could expand the battlefield beyond its current boundaries.

Akraminia said Iran was prepared to respond if Washington launched additional attacks, warning that the consequences could spread across a larger part of the region.

“If the United States moves in line with the Zionist regime and continues its attacks, the geographical scope of the war will expand,” Akraminia said.

His remarks come amid escalating tensions between Iran, Israel and the United States, with all three countries engaged in a series of military exchanges and increasingly hostile rhetoric. Tehran has accused Washington of backing Israel in the confrontation, while the US has maintained it will act to protect its interests and respond to security threats.

Iranian officials have repeatedly warned that direct attacks on the country could spark a wider regional crisis. Tehran has also said it has the capacity to respond through various means, although it has not disclosed what form any future action might take.

The prospect of a broader conflict has heightened concerns among regional governments and international observers, who fear that an escalation between Iran and the United States could draw in other countries and armed groups.

Iran maintains close ties with several armed groups operating across the region, including in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen. Analysts say any significant escalation could fuel military activity in these areas and further destabilise the region.

The Middle East is already grappling with heightened security tensions that have complicated diplomatic efforts and raised concerns over trade routes and global energy supplies. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for international oil shipments, remains a key strategic flashpoint.

The United States has not announced any new large-scale military operation against Iran, although US officials continue to monitor developments and maintain a military presence in the region.

Iran’s latest warning has added to fears that continued exchanges between the rival nations could evolve from limited strikes into a broader confrontation involving multiple actors.

Diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation are ongoing, but Tehran’s latest remarks suggest Iran is preparing for the possibility of renewed attacks and a further deterioration of the crisis.
