Interested parties are to register before February 24 for the walk that will take place the next day, from Adams Masjid and Islamic Centre to Sir Ali Muslim Club Ground in Nairobi.

Registration is open for the 2024 Iftar Fun Walk which raises funds to support vulnerable families during the Holy Month of Ramadhan.

Interested parties are to register before February 24 for the walk that will take place the next day, from Adams Masjid and Islamic Centre to Sir Ali Muslim Club Ground in Nairobi. The cost is Sh1,000 per person.

The announcement came on Tuesday when Zakat Kenya and Premier Bank announced their partnership to enable 5,000 vulnerable families to mark the Iftar during Ramadhan.

Premier Bank Chief Executive Officer Osman Duale noted that the walk will see needy families assisted while also promoting physical fitness.

"We are proud to be associated with Zakat Kenya to help needy families," he said and appealed for volunteers.

Zakat Kenya Vice Chairman Abdishakur Mohamed urged the public to emulate the initiative as many families affected by poverty and other natural calamities are likely to miss food to break their fast. He said that during Ramadhan last year, Zakat Kenya supported 2,200 families with food donated by well-wishers and corporations.

"With the entry of Premier Bank and funds that will be raised from the fun walk, we have raised the targeted number of vulnerable families to 5000," he said, adding the beneficiaries have already been identified by Imams who will help with the distribution of food.
