Besigye party members arrested while marching to Kenyan High Commission to protest his 'abduction'

The opposition politician was abducted and then taken forcefully to Kampala before getting charged in court.
Police in Kampala on Monday arrested eight members of the Forum for Democracy (FDC) Party allied to besieged Ugandan opposition leader Kizza Besigye.
The officials were arrested as they staged protests towards Kenya's High Commission in Kampala to express their displeasure at the decision of the government of Kenya to aid Ugandan police in arresting Besigye in Nairobi last week.

confirmed the arrest of the eight members from Besigye's Party.
"We have arrested eight members of the FDC Party who were staging protests at the Kenyan High Commission in Kampala with claims that some of their members have been arrested in Nairobi. We would want such people to channel their grievances through the right way," said Owoyesegyirie.
The police boss said they will not condone acts that disrupt normal activities in the city of Kampala. Besigye last week appeared in a military court in Kampala after his reported abduction in Nairobi.
Besigye, 68, was taken to the General Court Martial in handcuffs and under heavy military escort.
“Besigye has objected to his trial before the General Court Martial and informed the court chairman that he is a civilian who should not be tried in a military court,” his lawyer Erias Lukwago said.
At the same time, Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has applied to the Uganda Law Council for a temporary practising certificate to join the firm of Lukwago and Company Advocates of Kampala as lead counsel in the case against Besigye and his aide Obeid Lutale at the General Court Martial in Kampala, Uganda.
In her letter to the Secretary or Commissioner of the Uganda Law Council, Navakooza K. Margaret, dated November 25, Karua says the application is in line with Section 13 of the Advocates Act Chapter 267 of Uganda.
