Ferdinand Omanyala and Mary Moraa lead star-studded lineup for Silesia Diamond League in Poland

The Silesia Diamond League is set to captivate fans once again on August 25th, 2024, in Poland, featuring a star-studded lineup.

The Diamond League season kicked off on April 20th, 2024, in Xiamen, China, and will conclude in Brussels, Belgium, on September 13th and 14th, 2024.

Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala, will go head-to-head with Olympic silver medallist Kishane Thompson, bronze medallist Fred Kerley, and former Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs in a highly anticipated 100m race. The race will also feature Jamaican sprinter Ackeem Blake, American former world champion Christian Coleman, and other notable athletes, including Jeremiah Azu, Chituru Ali, and Rohan Watson.

Mary Moraa, another top Kenyan athlete, is confirmed to compete in the 1000m event, a distance she hasn’t raced since 2021 at the KBC Nacht van de Atletiek in Belgium. Before that, Moraa will participate in the Lausanne Diamond League on August 24th.

Omanyala, who had a disappointing performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics, finishing eighth in the 100m semi-finals with a time of 10.0 seconds, made a strong comeback at the Josko Lauf Meeting in Austria. There, he broke the 10-second barrier, clocking 9.95 seconds in the heats. Despite this, his critics argue that he excels only in less significant races.
