The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a warning of rising daytime temperatures in several parts of the country over the next seven days, with some regions expected to experience highs exceeding 30°C.

The weather forecast, released on Tuesday, highlights the areas that will be affected, urging residents to stay cool and hydrated as the heat intensifies.

According to the forecast, regions including the Coast, North-Eastern Kenya, North-Western Kenya, parts of Western Kenya, and the South-Eastern Lowlands will face high daytime temperatures.

"Temperatures are set to rise, with daytime highs exceeding 30°C in the Coast, North-Eastern Kenya, North-Western Kenya, parts of Western Kenya, and South-Eastern Lowlands. Stay cool and keep hydrated!" the Kenya Meteorological Department advised.

The counties in the South-Eastern Lowlands expected to experience high temperatures include Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County.

In North-Eastern Kenya, counties such as Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo are likely to see the hot weather.

In North-Western Kenya, the counties of Turkana and Samburu are also part of the forecasted hot zones. The coastal counties Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale, as well as the coastal parts of Tana River, will also face high temperatures during the period.

Despite the heat during the day, the forecast also mentions cooler nights.

The temperatures are expected to dip below 10°C in several regions, particularly in the Central Highlands, Central and South Rift Valley, and parts of the South-Eastern Lowlands.

In addition to the heat, the Kenya Meteorological Department has indicated that rainfall across the country will significantly reduce after Boxing Day, with the majority of the country transitioning to sunny and dry conditions.

However, parts of Western Kenya, the Central Highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, Central and South Rift Valley, South-Eastern Lowlands, and the Coast may still experience some rain during the early part of the week.
