The government has allocated Sh451,699,200 for cash transfers to 119,178 impoverished and vulnerable households in the eight arid counties severely affected by El Niño rains.
The government has allocated Sh451,699,200 for cash transfers to 119,178 impoverished and vulnerable households in the eight arid counties severely affected by El Niño rains. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua made the announcement during the launch in Garissa, stating that the funds would be disbursed under the Hunger Safety Net Programme, implemented by the National Drought Management Authority.
Gachagua revealed that at least 7,199 households in Garissa County would receive Sh58,311,900 as regular monthly transfers for October, November, and December. He emphasised the government's commitment to the social protection of the vulnerable, noting that approximately Sh1.7 billion had been disbursed in cash transfers since July in the eight counties covered by the NDMA.
