California, Eastleigh-born Saidi Kiprotich appointed head of Anti-Terrorism Unit

Saidi Kiprotich, who was born and raised in California, Eastleigh, has been appointed as the new director of the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU), taking over from the retiring Johnstone Kola.
Saidi Kiprotich, who was born and raised in California, Eastleigh, has been appointed as the new director of the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU), taking over from the retiring Johnstone Kola. Saidi, the former head of the now-defunct Flying Squad and Special Crimes Prevention Unit, previously served as the director of operations at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters.
The announcement of Saidi's appointment was made last week by the Director of DCI, Mohamed Amin, who also implemented a reshuffle within the police force. The changes included the appointment of Richard Mwaura as the acting director of operations at the DCI and the relocation of several senior officers who had surpassed three years at their respective stations.
With an extensive background in law enforcement, Saidi has served in various capacities within the police service. He previously held roles such as director of operations at the Nairobi Regional Command and county commander for Taita Taveta, in addition to his leadership positions at the Flying Squad and Special Crimes Prevention Unit.
