Renowned for their captivating performance of Dhaanto, a Somali traditional folk dance, the group left a lasting impression on the audience.
Lead vocalist Dheeq Mohamed expressed joy at the judges' announcement during the event organized by the Ministry of Gender, Culture, and Heritage. He stated, "Our entry to the stage thrilled everyone; almost everybody wanted to join us in the dance. I knew we made an impact."

The group received widespread accolades on social media for their victory in the folk dance presentation. Garissa Deputy Governor Abdi Dagane congratulated the Garissa Cultural Gargar team, stating, "Huge congratulations to Garissa Cultural Gargar team for securing the first position. Your outstanding performance and commitment have brought honor to us all."
Hawa Abdi, the Garissa County CEC for Culture, Gender, Sports, and Youth, commended the team for their remarkable feat, citing their hard work, creativity, and passion as setting standards for success.
The Gargar dancers' group, now celebrating their participation in national and international folk dance competitions, originated from a group of youth in Garissa who initially gained popularity in the annual national holiday events held in the county.
The event, themed "Our Culture: Towards National Cohesion, Integration, and Peace," featured participants from cultural organizations, county choirs from all 47 counties, water companies, parastatals, and music clubs from TVET institutes and universities.
