Lilian Odira smashes 800m championship record to claim Kenya's seventh gold at 2025 Tokyo World Championships

Odira’s compatriots, Sarah Moraa and her sister Mary Moraa, finished fourth and seventh, respectively, in the race.

Kenya’s Lilian Odira on Sunday smashed the 800m championship record at the 2025 Tokyo World Championships, clocking 1:54.62 to claim Kenya’s seventh gold in Japan.

Great Britain’s duo of Georgia Hunter Bell and Keely Hodgkinson scooped silver and bronze, respectively, in the tightly-contested race.

Odira’s compatriots, Sarah Moraa and her sister Mary Moraa, finished fourth and seventh, respectively, in the race.
