President Ruto announces major KDF leadership changes, appoints new Kenya Army, Air Force commanders

Major General David Kipkemboi Ketter, who has been serving as the Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Personnel and Logistics, has been promoted to Lieutenant General and appointed as the Commander Kenya Army, replacing Lieutenant General David Tarus.

President William Ruto has implemented several changes in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) that have seen new appointments and promotions of key personnel within the military following the recommendation of the Defence Council.

In the changes, Major General David Kipkemboi Ketter, who has been serving as the Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Personnel and Logistics, has been promoted to Lieutenant General and appointed as the Commander Kenya Army, replacing Lieutenant General David Kimaiyo Chemwaina Tarus, who has been redeployed to the National Defence University Kenya (NDU-K) as the Vice Chancellor.

Additionally, the Commander in Chief has appointed Major General Benard Waliaula, the Director of Defence National Security Industries, as the Commander Kenya Air Force.

He replaces Major General Fatuma Gaiti Ahmed, whose term of service has come to an end after 42 years of service.

The President has also promoted and appointed Brigadier Joel Muriungi M'arimi, the Commander Armoured Brigade, to the rank of Major General and appointed him Commandant Kenya Military Academy.

Further, the President has promoted and appointed Brigadier Joyce Chelang'at Sitienei, the Director International Peace Support Centre, to the rank of Major General and appointed her Deputy Vice Chancellor, Centre for Strategic and Security Studies at the National Defence University - Kenya (NDU-K).

Other changes are as follows;

Brigadier Faustino Mancha Lobaly has been promoted to Major General and appointed Director of National Defence Security Industries.

Brigadier Charles Lenjo Mwazighe has been promoted to Major General and appointed Director International Peace Support Centre.

Brigadier Mohamed Isak lddi has been promoted to Major General and appointed Director at the Directorate of Oversight, Compliance and Accountability (DOCA).

Brigadier Edward Rugendo, promoted to Major General and appointed Director of Personnel and Logistics.

Brigadier Richard Wambua Mwanzia, promoted to Major General and appointed Senior Directing Staff, Army at the National Defence College.

Colonel Said Mohamed Mwacharo Promoted to Brigadier and appointed Chief of Infrastructure.

Colonel Meshack Sinkira Kishoyian Promoted to Brigadier and appointed Commander 6 Brigade.

Changes at the Kenya Air Force have seen Colonel Herbert Mabele Wafula Promoted to Brigadier and appointed Base Commander, Moi Airbase.

Colonel Ismail Guhad Noor promoted to Brigadier and appointed Deputy Managing Director at Kenya Ordinance Factories Limited and Food Processing Factory.

Colonel Victor Waithaka Kang'ethe promoted to Brigadier and appointed Director National Air Support Department (NASO).

Colonel Rodah Mkavita Mwasigwa has been promoted to Brigadier and appointed Chief of Compensation and Welfare at Defence Headquarters.

At the Kenya Navy, former President Uhuru Kenyatta's ADC Brigadier Timothy Stelu Lekolool has been promoted to Major General and appointed Senior Directing Staff at the National Defence College.

Colonel Ronald Mesa Makori has been promoted to Brigadier and appointed Chief of Strategic Plans and Policy.

Colonel Peter Musili Muthungu has been promoted to Brigadier and appointed Head of Production at Kenya Shipyard Limited.

Lieutenant Colonel Wilfrida Atieno Omolo has been promoted to Brigadier and appointed Commander Kenya Navy Logistics.

Lieutenant Colonel Safari Katana Kalume has been promoted to Colonel and appointed and appointed Senior Directing Staff, Navy Joint Warfare Centre.
