Man who entered Bunge Towers to find his wives to undergo mental assessment after telling magistrate he's handsome

When Magistrate Ekhubi asked what he had gone to do at Bunge Towers, Kidero replied that he was looking for his wives in the August House.

A Nairobi court has ordered a man who allegedly entered Bunge Towers illegally to undergo a mental assessment before being charged with unlawful entry into a restricted area.

The Milimani court granted the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) 14 days to take Nelson Ibrahim Kidero, alias Nelson Muriithi, to Mathari Mental Hospital pending his arraignment.

The DPP is seeking to charge Kidero with unlawful entry into the Parliamentary precincts, contrary to Section 31(1)(a) as read with Section 31(2) of the Parliamentary Powers and Privileges Act 2017.

According to court documents, Kidero is accused of unlawfully accessing Bunge Towers on July 30, 2025 and again on August 7, 2025.

The charge sheet states that on August 7, 2025, at around 9.30 pm in Nairobi, within Nairobi County, he was found at the parking area of Bunge Towers without lawful authority.

He also faces a charge that on July 30, 2025, at around 6.45 am in Nairobi, within Nairobi County, he was found at the reception area on the 24th floor of Bunge Towers without lawful authority.

Appearing before Milimani Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi on Friday, Kidero pleaded with the court to forgive his actions.

“I want to ask for forgiveness. I am very sorry for kuingia kwa bunge. I did not want to enter Parliament in a bad way, so I am sorry,” Kidero told the court.

When Magistrate Ekhubi asked what he had gone to do at Bunge Towers, Kidero replied that he was looking for his wives in the August House.

He then named three of the wives and claimed the remaining ten were in court, prompting laughter in the courtroom. He added that it was not necessary for him to disclose the names of the other ten wives.

Although court papers indicated Kidero had accessed Bunge Towers twice, he told the court he had entered the premises three times.

Notably, as Magistrate Ekhubi was issuing directions to the DPP, Kidero interrupted, telling him, “You are very handsome,” which caused further laughter in the courtroom.

Magistrate Ekhubi directed the State to have Kidero undergo a mental assessment and to ensure he receives treatment for injuries.

The case will be mentioned on August 21, 2025.
