Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who was in attendance, congratulated both leaders on their new roles.
He expressed his appreciation for the outgoing chairman, President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia, highlighting his invaluable contributions to regional economic cooperation.
The summit's theme, "Accelerating Regional Integration through the Development of Regional Value Chains in Climate Resilient Agriculture, Mining, and Tourism", reflects Comesa's dedication to promoting sustainable and inclusive growth across member states.
During the summit, Ruto and Mudavadi engaged in discussions aimed at advancing the Tripartite Free Trade Area (TFTA), a significant initiative that connects Comesa with the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to bolster intra-African trade.
In a notable development, Kenya was announced as the host for the 2025 Comesa Summit, with Ruto expressing gratitude for this opportunity.
"It is a great privilege to stand before you and accept, on behalf of the people of the Republic of Kenya, the distinguished honour of hosting the 2025 Comesa Summit," Ruto said
He affirmed Kenya's readiness to host this important gathering of heads of state and government.
Ruto reiterated his commitment to making the 2025 summit a landmark event, promising it would elevate the region's achievements and further the shared ambitions of African nations.
"I look forward to welcoming each one of you to Nairobi, and to taking part in a summit that will definitely be our region's next step in the journey to transformative progress," he added.
