I-Fly Air soars to new heights as it flies Somalia President for UN environment summit

The move underscored the airline's growing reputation as a trusted provider of air travel services, solidifying its position as a key player in the African aviation sector.

I-Fly Air on Wednesday proudly flew in Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, signalling a significant milestone in its rapid growth in the aviation industry.

The Somalia President arrived in Nairobi through the airline, for the High-Level Segment of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-6) at the UNEP Headquarters in Nairobi.

UNEA-6 will focus on how multilateralism can help tackle the triple planetary crisis of climate change, nature and biodiversity loss, and pollution and waste.

The Assembly is an opportunity for world governments, civil society groups, the scientific community and the private sector to shape the global environmental policy.

Taking to their X account, the airline expressed its gratitude for the opportunity to serve President Hassan, reaffirming their commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and hospitality.

"If you're looking for the best airline in Africa, look no further than the Wings of Africa," I-Fly Air stated.

Key player

The move underscored the airline's growing reputation as a trusted provider of air travel services, solidifying its position as a key player in the African aviation sector.

The airline was founded in 2018 under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Abdullahi Adan Hassan.

It began its journey as a travel agency and swiftly established itself as a leading name in air ticket sales with a vast network of major airlines.

The airline has regular flights between Nairobi and Mogadishu, Juba, Mandera and Wajir.

Recognising an opportunity to further serve its clients, the company expanded its operations, opening sales offices in strategic locations across Kenya, including Wajir, Eldoret, Lodwar, Malindi, Mombasa, Lamu, and Eastleigh.

However, in December 2019, I-Fly Air Solutions embarked on a transformative journey, transitioning from a travel agency to a full-fledged airline.

The pivotal decision was fueled by the company's commitment to addressing a market deficit and enhancing its service provision to meet the evolving needs of its customers.

It was then issued with an Air Service License in 2020.

The honour of flying a head of state underscored the airline's reputation for reliability, safety, and impeccable service, further solidifying its position as a preferred choice for discerning travellers across Africa.

During the Summit, President Hassan Sheikh will highlight Somalia's unique environmental challenges, particularly the climate-induced humanitarian situation in the country by exploring ways to work collaboratively with global partners to build a sustainable future for Somalia.

Additionally, he will touch on the challenges hampering peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region and discuss how certain destabilising unilateral actions threaten to exacerbate the worsening situation.
