Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has been assigned to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development in an acting capacity.
Meanwhile, Sports CS Salim Mvurya will also be overseeing the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry in an acting capacity.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Head of Public Service Felix Koskei announced the temporary assignments, stating that the changes were made in line with Article 152(5)(a) of the Constitution, which provides for the appointment of acting ministers to fill vacant positions.
The President, in his recent Cabinet reshuffle, nominated Mutahi Kagwe to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, William Kabogo (Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy) and Lee Kinyanjui (Trade).
The three are set to face the National Assembly Committee on Appointments on January 14, 2024.
The committee is chaired by Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and comprises members from both the Majority and Minority sides.
After vetting, the committee will recommend to the House to either reject or approve the nominees.
If the nominees are approved by Parliament, they will officially take on their roles after taking the oath of office.
