Despite the setback, Nigeria continued to press forward, and their efforts paid off in the 35th minute when Ademola Lookman found the back of the net, giving his side the deserved lead. Lookman's goal came after a brilliant assist from Victor Osimhen, who exhibited exceptional skill and determination in the buildup play.

However, Nigeria faced a moment of concern in the 72nd minute when goalkeeper Mwabali Stanley sustained an injury, prompting a temporary halt in play as he received treatment. In response, Cameroon made a strategic substitution, bringing in experienced striker Aboubakar Vincent to bolster their attack.
Undeterred by the injury setback, Nigeria remained resolute in their pursuit of victory. Alex Iwobi came close to doubling the lead in the 87th minute, but his shot narrowly missed the target. Nevertheless, Nigeria's persistence paid off moments later when Lookman capitalized on a scoring opportunity to extend their lead and seal the victory.
With this impressive performance, Nigeria advances to the quarterfinals of the AFCON, bolstering their aspirations for tournament glory.
