Earth tremor felt in Nairobi and its environs

The meteorological department is yet to issue a response to a question on whether the phenomenon was an earth's tremor.
An incident of ground shaking, seemingly caused by seismic activity, was reported in Nairobi and its environs at around 1.25 pm EAT on Wednesday.
By press time, however, the Kenya Meteorological Department had yet to respond to a question on whether it was an Earth tremor.

Several Nairobians took to social media to report their experiences.


There are no details yet on the magnitude or depth of the tremor.
The Earthquake Monitor said the shaking felt was possibly that of a tremor.
"Seismic-like event, possibly an earthquake, was reported about 10 minutes ago near the Nairobi area, Kenya. There are no details yet on the magnitude or depth of this possible quake. If confirmed, we can expect more accurate data to emerge in the next few minutes. The location, magnitude, and time mentioned are indicative, based on our best-fit seismic model," Volcano Discovery, a news portal for earthquake and volcano updates, said in a post on X.
