Abdullahi is the second child to have been reported missing in Eastleigh this week.

Well-wishers are calling on the family and relatives of a young boy named Abdullahi Mohamad who has been located in Section One, Eastleigh, after being reported missing.

In a clip that is being circulated online, Abdullahi who appears to be struggling to communicate effectively, mentions that his mother is called Mumina.

Those aware of the missing boy's story told The Eastleigh Voice that the boy's parents are currently living in Germany and he has been living with his ageing grandmother in Eastleigh.

"Abdullahi is currently in the care of a woman named Hajio Umar. Despite his cooperation, Abdullahi is unable to provide any telephone numbers or detailed information about his family members, searching for his relatives more challenging," the clip adds.

Anyone with more information that can lead to Abdullahi being reunited with his family can contact Hajio Omar on 0707297227.

Abdullahi is the second child to have been reported missing in Eastleigh this week.

On Thursday, the Eastleigh Voice reported the disappearance of Mahir Mohamed Farah who was last seen the previous night at around 8 pm along 7th Street.

His family called on anyone with news of his whereabouts to contact the nearest police station.

Missing daughter

At the same time, the family of Amal Fadhil is still looking for their missing daughter who was last seen in Ole Kasase in Rongai on Wednesday morning wearing a black scarf and a matching abaya.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts has been asked to contact the nearest police station or get in touch with family via 0720009327, 0727446177 or 0724505416.

Worrying cases of children going missing are reported in Eastleigh frequently but efforts by locals and authorities to trace back the children have seen some reunited with their families.

Rayaan Jassan Amiin (15) who went missing on January 28 this year from her home along Kirongothi Street has been reunited with her family.

The same goes for Amon Mugei (13) who went missing in June last year from his home in the Jerusalem area.

Missing Child Kenya confirmed to the Eastleigh Voice that the two have since been reunited with their families.

In January alone, Missing Child Kenya (12) received 27 reports of missing children, 20 of whom have since been reunited with their families while six are still missing.

One was found but is yet to be reunited with family.

Though the cases were reported from 12 counties, it does not mean that the rest of the counties had no missing children.

Out of the seven of the cumulative cases reported in Nairobi, two were from Eastleigh both of whom have since been reunited with family.

"The data published in this report is from our casework files handled at Missing Child Kenya only during January 2024. These are not absolute figures for January 2024," says MCK.

MCK says children have gone missing while wandering, some were caught up in family custody issues, some while fleeing cultural practices and domestic issues, others were abductions, some were cases of truancy and so forth.

"December/January is a season where a lot of families change house help or caregivers. It is very important to ensure the following before hiring a new househelp to take care of your children; get references, know where they come from, get a copy of their ID card, and a photo and establish a phone number of a contact person," MCK advises.
