City Hall takes swift action after Jam Street garbage exposé

By |

In response to an exposé by Eastleigh Voice highlighting the deteriorating state of Jam Street in Eastleigh, Nairobi, Governor Sakaja has acknowledged the challenges faced due to the withdrawal of garbage collection trucks.

The governor explained that the absence of these trucks had hindered effective garbage collection and delivery to the Dandora Dumpsite.

Governor Sakaja reassured the public that the Nairobi County Government has taken prompt action to address the issue. New garbage collection trucks have been procured, and operations have resumed to ensure the cleanliness of the affected areas.

Following the publication of the Eastleigh Voice story, a tractor and several additional trucks have been deployed to Jam Street. Their primary objective is to clear the accumulated filth and restore cleanliness to the locality. This swift response demonstrates the commitment of the Nairobi County Government to address sanitation concerns promptly.

Governor Sakaja emphasised the importance of a clean and healthy environment for the residents of Nairobi. He urged residents to continue supporting ongoing efforts to maintain cleanliness in various neighborhoods. The deployment of resources and the resumption of garbage collection operations underscore the commitment to upholding environmental standards in the city.

As the trucks and machinery commence cleanup operations on Jam Street, it is anticipated that the concerted efforts will lead to a visible improvement in the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the area. The governor's assurance of sustained garbage collection endeavors reflects the dedication to creating a healthier and more habitable urban environment for Nairobi residents.
