Karen Nyamu threatens to lead 'nude protests' in push for slums equality

In a fiery Senate session, Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu stirred up the debate by issuing a bold warning, vowing to lead a group of Nairobi women in unconventional protests, even suggesting they might undress, to ensure the inclusion of city slum dwellers in the Equalisation Fund beneficiaries.
Addressing the legislative body, Nyamu emphasized the long-standing neglect of Nairobi, despite its status as the nation's capital and the seat of government. Expressing frustration, she highlighted the oversight of densely populated slum areas like Kibera, Korogocho, and Mukuru wa Kayaba, where basic amenities and living conditions remain dire.

"Nairobi is not just about the opulent estates of Karen and Muthaiga. We cannot turn a blind eye to the marginalized slum residents any longer," Nyamu declared passionately, citing the persistent negligence of policymakers and legislators.
Senator Nyamu's fervent call for action underscores the urgency to uphold Article 204 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010, which stipulates the establishment of the Equalization Fund to cater to the needs of marginalized areas. With the recent allocation of Sh10.3 billion, signed into law by President William Ruto, Nyamu's impassioned plea seeks to ensure the equitable distribution of resources for the benefit of Nairobi's overlooked communities.
