Outrage in Miritini as suspected police abduct brothers, force them to commit crimes
The family claims the children were forced into a waiting vehicle by heavily armed men believed to be police officers and driven to an unknown location.
Tension has gripped Miritini Estate in Mombasa County after reports emerged that individuals suspected to be security agents abducted a minor and a teenager, forcing them to commit serious crimes.
According to a family in the area, their two children mysteriously disappeared for two days immediately after leaving a nearby SDA church following afternoon prayers.

The family claims the children were forced into a waiting vehicle by heavily armed men believed to be police officers and driven to an unknown location.
Reliable sources in Miritini corroborated the account, saying the two brothers—aged 19 and five—were abducted from their home on August 22 between 2 pm and 3 pm. They were allegedly taken to a forest in Malindi, where they were forced to commit a crime under the watch of three armed men.
The report, which is also being pursued by some human rights groups, adds that the brothers had been preparing for Saturday service when they encountered their abductors. They were allegedly bundled into a white car by gunmen carrying rifles.
Residents said the children were first drugged, blindfolded, and taken into a forested area where the crime was committed at gunpoint and recorded on a phone.
Afterwards, they were bundled back into the same vehicle and later dumped along the Malindi–Mombasa road, appearing dazed and confused.
The younger child reportedly remained unconscious for a long time and could not recall the events. A good Samaritan eventually rescued the brothers and took them to Malindi Police Station, where a report was filed under OB No. 94/22/08/2025.
The siblings spent the night at the Samaritan’s home before returning to the station the next morning for further inquiries.
Abductor in police uniform
However, the following day, the elder brother, while approaching the station with the good Samaritan, spotted one of his alleged abductors in police uniform. Alarmed, he alerted his guardian, and the two quickly fled the area on a motorcycle.
Sources said the suspected abductors saw the escape and attempted to pursue them, but the pair managed to evade capture and returned to Mombasa.
The family, now in hiding, is reportedly traumatised by the ordeal. Matters worsened when the suspects allegedly accessed the elder son’s social media accounts using a SIM card they had taken from his phone and posted disturbing photos from the forced crime.
By the time of publishing, it was unclear whether Malindi police had acted on the complaint.
However, the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) of the National Police Service has since visited the station, questioned several officers, and seized crucial documents.
The case has since drawn the attention of senior police commanders in the Coast region and other security agencies.
