Mombasa politicians mourn loss of youth leader Brenda Wasike

Politicians and community members in Mombasa are mourning the tragic loss of Brenda Wasike, a prominent youth leader, who died in a road crash in Bangladesh.

Wasike, who served as the President of the Mombasa Youth Assembly, was a well-respected figure in the region, known for her dedication to youth empowerment.

"In loving memory of Brenda Wasike, a dedicated leader and advocate for youth empowerment. Her passion and commitment inspired us all. May her legacy continue to shine brightly through the Mombasa Youth Assembly. Rest in peace, Brenda," the Mombasa Youth Assembly said in a statement.

Mombasa Senator Mohammed Faki expressed his condolences, highlighting Wasike's role in the Changamwe Ward Oversight Committee.

“I have received with great sadness the news of the death of a member of the Senate Oversight Committee for Changamwe, Brenda Wasike. On behalf of myself and the people of Mombasa County, I send my heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives, and friends for this loss. May God grant you patience during this difficult time and may He rest our beloved's soul in eternal peace. Amen,” he said.

Grassroots mobiliser

Mombasa Woman Representative Zamzam Mohammed also paid tribute to Wasike, describing her as an excellent grassroots mobiliser and a champion of youth empowerment.

"It is with great sadness that I have learned of the tragic passing of Brenda Wasike. It is hard to comprehend how the cruel hand of death has suddenly snatched her from our midst. She was an energetic, jovial, and extremely pleasant person to deal with," Zamzam posted on social media.

"Her participation in social activities, which saw her become the president of the Mombasa Youth Assembly, was a valuable contribution to the growth of youth empowerment. May her soul rest in peace."

The loss of Brenda Wasike has left a significant void in the Mombasa community, with many remembering her for her vibrant spirit and unwavering commitment to the youth of the region.
