Lamu Deputy Governor Raphael Ndung’u is dead
The President eulogised Munyua as a progressive leader who worked tirelessly for the greater good of the people of Lamu.
Lamu County has been thrown into mourning following the death of its Deputy Governor, Raphael Munyua Ndung’u.
His death announcement was made on Friday night by President William Ruto.
“I am saddened by the news of the passing away of the Deputy Governor of Lamu County Raphael Munyua Ndung’u,” he said.
The President eulogised Munyua as a progressive leader who worked tirelessly for the greater good of the people of Lamu.
“Our love and prayers to the family, friends and the people of Lamu County at this sad moment,” Ruto said.

While passing his condolences, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, said the DG was unwell. He was hospitalised at a Nairobi hospital following his illness.
“ Our deepest condolences to the great people of Lamu County following the passing on of the Lamu Deputy Governor Raphael Munyua Ndung'u who has not been feeling well for some time,” he said.
Munyua ascended to the Lamu Deputy Governor position after successfully running on a joint Amani National Congress (ANC) ticket alongside current Governor Issa Timamy in the August 2022 general elections.
He served as the third deputy governor of Lami County.
