Kindiki to takeover as UDA Deputy Party Leader on Monday

"The UDA constitution states that the President will be the party leader and the Deputy President will be the deputy party leader. We will be holding a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting probably as early as Monday to bring him in," she said.
Kindiki, who previously served as the Interior Cabinet Secretary, has stepped into his new role following a protracted court battle that led to the High Court lifting orders that had previously barred his swearing-in.
His nomination as Deputy President by President William Ruto was subsequently approved by Parliament, filling the position left vacant after the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua.
The UDA party had already distanced itself from Gachagua earlier in the week.
On October 21, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar announced that the party would not recognise Gachagua as deputy party leader, indicating plans to expel him from the party within a week.
"Gachagua must now accept the ground has shifted and move on," Omar said, noting the need for new leadership within the party.
Furthermore, UDA Treasury official Japhet Nyakundi had said that Gachagua's actions were not in line with the party's values, which led to the decision to embrace Kindiki as the new deputy party leader.
"We already recognise Kindiki as our deputy president and also deputy party leader but we will officially install him soon," he said, affirming Kindiki's alignment with the party's principles.
