26-year-old man shot, robbed of Sh3.9 million in Eastleigh daylight attack

The perpetrator immediately grabbed the cash, wrapped in green paper, and fled the scene, leaving Adan wounded and robbed.

In a daylight attack early Saturday, a 26-year-old man identified as Adan Ali Mohamed was shot and robbed of over $30,000 (Sh3,969,726) while on a bodaboda on Eastleigh's Muratina Street. The assailant, also on a bodaboda, remained at large following the incident at around noon.

Adan had intended to deposit the money at one of the banks at BBS Mall. However, upon arrival, he discovered that the bank was closed. Consequently, he decided to return home, opting to ride a bodaboda for convenience.

Tragically, as he reached the Bulsho car wash on Muratina Street, another bodaboda rider intercepted him. Without warning, the assailant shot Adan, leaving him injured and fighting for his life.

The perpetrator immediately grabbed the cash, wrapped it in green paper, and fled the scene.

Eyewitnesses, including the manager of Bulsho car wash, Abdirashid Ali, recounted the harrowing incident. "Immediately after I heard the loud bang, I came out and saw a man on the ground and another one fleeing," Abdirashid recounted.

Abdirashid and other pedestrians rushed Adan to the nearby Health Gate Hospital.

Mohamednur Ibrahim, the victim's relative, expressed concern for his well-being, stating, "We will take him for an MRI and then bring him back to Health Gate."

The extent of Adan's injuries and the precise damage caused by the shooting were not immediately clear.

Following the incident, officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations went to the scene to gather evidence and assess the situation.

An anonymous eyewitness informed The Eastleigh Voice that a police officer arrived immediately after the shooting and left with the rider who was ferrying Adan.

This alarming incident adds to the growing concerns over insecurity in Eastleigh, with a particular focus on bodaboda-related crimes. Incidents of robbery and violence involving bodaboda riders have been on the rise in the area.

As investigations into the shooting continue, residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

Police have said they launched a manhunt for the suspect amid calls for justice by Adan's family.
