Two suspects believed to have been involved in a car hijacking incident last week at Modikor along the Garissa-Dadaab road were apprehended today at Hagarbul Center. The arrests were made 50 km away from Hagardera refugee camp, where the stolen vehicle was recovered by police amidst gunfire in the previous week's incident.

Members of the public spotted the suspects at Hagarbul center and promptly alerted Kenya Police Reservists, leading to their arrest at approximately 15:30hrs, according to a source who spoke to The Eastleigh Voice.

The source disclosed that the suspects were taken to Hagarbul police post for interrogation, during which they admitted their involvement in the carjacking. The incident last week had left the driver seriously injured, as the assailants used a Panga before abandoning him along the road.

Arrangements were being made to transfer the suspects to the Garissa DCI regional officer for further interrogation and to face trial in court.

The car hijacking incident had caused panic among road users in the region, marking a rare occurrence of such crimes involving private vehicles in the area. The swift action by the Kenya Police Reservists and collaboration with the public demonstrates the community's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the region's residents.
