KNEC releases all missing education certificates for teachers for years 2022, 2023
Teachers who will still be unable to locate their certificates have been advised to report the issue to KNEC through their respective sub-county directors of education.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced the release of all teacher education certificates for the years 2022 and 2023.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, KNEC said the certificates are now available for collection. "The Certificates are available at respective colleges," the Council said.

KNEC administers Teacher Education Examinations for tutors who wish to join the teaching profession at various levels.
The Council is responsible for administering various teacher education examinations, including the Primary Teacher Education (PTE), Diploma in Teacher Education (DTE), Teacher Certificate in Adult Education (TCAE), Diploma in Special Needs Education Parts I and II, and Early Childhood Development Education.
KNEC also oversees other major exams such as the KCPE and KCSE. Its role involves setting and maintaining examination and assessment standards across school, post-school, and teacher education levels.
It is also tasked with conducting examinations, processing results, and awarding certificates and diplomas to successful candidates.
The release of the certificates follows a recent clarification from KNEC that it does not replace lost certificates. Instead, the Council said it provides a certification letter for lost certificates.
"The certification letter is legally acceptable and can be used in the place of the lost certificate," KNEC said.
To apply for a certification letter, the Council said candidates must first register an account at KNEC's online portal https://qmis.knec.ac.ke.
After logging in with the provided credentials, they should select the 'lost certificate' option from the menu and enter their index number, exam type, and year, then click 'find.'
Applicants must attach several documents: a copy of the lost certificate or results slip, both sides of their Identity Card, a passport-sized photo, a police abstract, and a confirmation from the registrar of persons located at the NSSF building.
After submitting these documents, they will receive an SMS notification to log in, make a payment of Sh5,220, and await processing.
Applicants are also urged to monitor the system for updates on their application status.
"Once the process is complete, you will receive an SMS notification to collect your certification letter from the KNEC offices," the Council said.
It noted that the online application process eliminates the need for physical visits to their offices.
