Mahat Tawane said the burrow pit was very deep, a situation that requires the help of expert divers to access it and aid in the search and rescue exercise.
“We already identified two local deep divers known to have helped in similar circumstances before and they promised to join the rescue team that is currently at the scene," said Tawane
He said the family members led by Issack Hassan Siyat, the father of the boy, have camped at the scene waiting for the arrival of the experts.
The incident follows a similar one where a 60-year-old man died on Monday after he drowned in Garissa town as the El Nino rains continued to wreak havoc in the county.
The man identified as Hassan Sirat fell into a stream at the Quba area in Garissa town following flash floods that have been experienced in the town for several weeks.
Abdi Ali, a relative of the deceased, said they retrieved his body on Tuesday at West Gate area in Bulla Rig after rescue efforts on Monday night failed as a result of the heavy rains.
