One dead, several injured in Shabana FC, Gor Mahia FC fan clash at Gusii Stadium

One person was killed and several others injured on Sunday at the Gusii Stadium after a violent altercation between Gor Mahia and Shabana FC supporters triggered a stampede at the grounds.

Video footage obtained by The Eastleigh Voice captures the clash erupting at the stands before spilling over into the grounds, with rival fans hurling stones and other objects at each other.
Frightened fans can be seen rushing towards the exits in a desperate bid to escape, likely causing the stampede.
An announcer can be heard over the loudspeaker attempting to de-escalate the situation but to no avail.
However, police arrived at the scene and managed to contain the situation, while injured fans were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Despite the chaotic scenes, the match between Gor and Shabana FC proceeded, albeit after a one-hour delay.
