Gor Mahia part ways with coach Mihic after just three months
Gor Mahia have parted ways with Croatian head coach Sinisa Mihic after just three months in charge, ending a brief but turbulent tenure marked by mixed results and mounting fan frustration.
The short-lived reign of Croatian tactician Sinisa Mihic at Gor Mahia is over. The 21-time Kenyan Premier League champions announced on Monday that they had parted ways with the 48-year-old by mutual agreement, just three months after his appointment.
Mihic officially took charge on February 3, 2025, brought in to stabilise the team and guide them toward the FKF Premier League title following a rocky spell under interim coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno. Armed with a UEFA Pro Licence and experience coaching in Kuwait and Croatia, Mihic’s arrival was met with optimism.

That optimism soon faded. A recent dip in form coupled with reports of internal friction within the technical bench and with senior players ultimately led to his departure. During his tenure, Gor Mahia won eight, drew five, and lost two of the 14 league matches he oversaw. He also steered the team to the FKF Cup semi-finals, having beaten Kariobangi Sharks 2-0 in the quarter-finals.
Despite a promising start, the team managed just two wins in their last five league outings. A 2-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Nairobi City Stars on May 15 and a goalless draw with Murang’a Seal three days later added to the frustration. After the Murang’a fixture, tempers flared as fans confronted Mihic at St. Sebastian Park, demanding accountability for the club’s faltering performances.
Gor’s most recent league win came on May 4, a narrow 1-0 victory over Shabana FC. The club currently sits third in the table with 54 points from 31 matches—seven points behind leaders Police FC—but with a game in hand.
In the interim, assistant coaches Michael Nam and Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno will oversee the final four matches of the season as the club races to close the gap in the title chase and search for a long-term successor.
