Kakamega Homeboyz have bolstered their squad with the signing of veteran goalkeeper Patrick Matasi as they look to build on their unbeaten run in the FKF Premier League. Matasi, 35, brings vast experience and leadership, qualities the club hopes will strengthen their defence in the season’s second half.

Kakamega Homeboyz have strengthened their squad with the signing of veteran goalkeeper Patrick Matasi as they look to build on their unbeaten run in the FKF Premier League’s second half.

Matasi, 35, arrives at Homeboyz after a two-year stint with Kenya Police FC. The experienced shot-stopper, who was once Kenya's first-choice goalkeeper, is expected to add stability to the team's defence as they push for a strong finish this season.

Homeboyz have proven to be a tough opponent, going unbeaten in their last nine matches, though they have managed only three wins in that stretch. With the league entering a crucial phase, the club is looking to convert draws into victories, and Matasi's leadership between the posts could be key.

The goalkeeper brings a wealth of experience, having played for Tusker FC and Posta Rangers before moving to Ethiopia’s St. George SC. His performances earned him a place in the Harambee Stars squad, where he played a vital role in Kenya’s 2019 AFCON campaign.

“We needed a goalkeeper with experience and leadership, and Matasi fits the profile perfectly,” a club official said. “His presence will add depth to our squad.”

The mid-season transfer window, which opened on Friday, January 31, runs until February 28, with several clubs already making moves to strengthen their squads. Elsewhere, Tusker FC have signed Ugandan midfielder Dennis Iguma from Kampala Police FC on a one-year deal as they push for the FKF Premier League title.

With Homeboyz reinforcing their ranks and other clubs making key additions, the second half of the season promises to be highly competitive.
