Harambee Stars to test waters in CECAFA Four Nations Cup ahead of CHAN 2024

Harambee Stars will compete in the CECAFA Four Nations Cup from July 24–27 in Arusha, Tanzania, as part of their build-up to the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN). The tournament pits Kenya against Tanzania, Uganda, and South Sudan in a high-stakes regional showdown aimed at sharpening squads ahead of the continental event for home-based players.

Harambee Stars are set to take part in the CECAFA Four Nations Cup, scheduled for July 24–27, 2025, at Karatu Stadium in Arusha, Tanzania.

The tournament will serve as a crucial preparatory platform ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will be hosted in East Africa.

The four-team competition brings together regional rivals Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and South Sudan, offering each side a chance to fine-tune tactics and assess squad depth ahead of the continental showpiece, which exclusively features locally based players.

All four teams will be in action on Matchday 1, Thursday, July 24. Uganda will open the tournament against South Sudan, followed by the much-anticipated clash between hosts Tanzania and Harambee Stars later that day.

The format is straightforward; the winners of the opening matches will face off in the final on Sunday, July 27, while the losing sides will contest the third-place playoff earlier that same day.

The tournament comes just a day after Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy named his 30-man provisional squad for CHAN. The squad includes some of the most prolific scorers from the 2024/25 FKF Premier League season, led by Moses Shumah (17 goals), Emmanuel Osoro (16), and Ryan Ogam (15).

In midfield, creative duties will fall to Mohammed Bajaber and exciting first-timer Keith Imbali, both expected to add flair and energy in the middle of the park.
