South Sudan’s Francis Amin appointed to key FIFA committee
The Committee is one of FIFA's key governance arms, responsible for overseeing the development, administration and support of the organization's 211 Member Associations.
The President of the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF), Francis Amin, has been appointed to the FIFA Member Associations Committee, marking a major milestone for South Sudan in international football governance.
FIFA confirmed Amin's appointment to the committee, which includes notable figures such as Jorge Salomon of Honduras (Chairperson), Aivar Pohlak of Estonia (Deputy Chairperson), Rajesh Patel of Fiji (FIFA Council Delegate), Armand Duka of Albania, Samar Nassar of Jordan, Peter Simelane of Eswatini, and Celestin Yanindji of the Central African Republic.

It plays a crucial role in strengthening the relationship between FIFA and national football federations, ensuring effective implementation of FIFA Forward projects and promoting good governance, accountability, and capacity-building initiatives across global football structures.
Amin was elected SSFF President in August 2025 after defeating outgoing president General Augustino Maduot in a surprising comeback, securing 26 out of 38 votes against Maduot's 12. The victory meant he will serve a four-year term, leading the federation until 2029.
Since taking office, he has championed projects aimed at improving infrastructure, expanding youth competitions and investing in women's football.
His appointment is being hailed as a significant recognition of his leadership and South Sudan's steady progress in football management.
In a statement on Facebook, the South Sudan Football Federation congratulated Amin, describing his inclusion in the committee as a proud moment for the nation and a chance to enhance South Sudan's contribution to global football administration.
"His inclusion in one of FIFA's key committees is a proud moment for the nation and will enhance South Sudan's engagement within the international football community," said SSFF.
Amin's appointment is expected to deepen the country's collaboration with FIFA and open new opportunities for technical and institutional growth, as South Sudan continues to position itself as an emerging football nation on the African continent.
