Visa users get first pick as AFCON 2025 ticket sales kick off in Morocco

The 2025 tournament is expected to attract thousands of fans from across Africa and beyond.
Ticket sales for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 opened on Monday, with Visa cardholders granted a 48-hour exclusive window to purchase seats for the continent’s premier football tournament.
According to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), sales began at 9:00 a.m. Moroccan time (11:00 am EAT) and will remain open to Visa users until Wednesday.

General ticket sales for all payment methods will then follow. The month-long competition is scheduled to run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
"Visa cardholders will benefit from an exclusive pre-sale window from Monday, 13 October 08:00 GMT until Wednesday, 15 October 2025 08:00 GMT. The general sale will follow immediately after for all other methods of payment," CAF said in a statement.
"Fans across Africa and beyond will have the opportunity to secure their seats for the continent's biggest football celebration."
Valid Fan ID
CAF further announced that supporters must hold a valid Fan ID to purchase tickets. The Fan ID, created through the YALLA App, is also used to apply for Morocco’s electronic visa (E-visa/AEVM).
"A valid Fan ID created through the YALLA App is mandatory to purchase a ticket. Fans and the whole football family are encouraged to complete the Fan ID registration process. Each Fan ID allows the supporters to buy only ONE ticket per game," CAF said.
Once a Fan ID is approved, supporters can access CAF’s ticketing platform. The system aims to ensure secure and traceable purchases while making travel arrangements smoother for attendees.
The 2025 tournament is expected to attract thousands of fans from across Africa and beyond. Hosts Morocco will open the competition against Comoros at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on December 21.
Twenty-four teams will compete, divided into six groups of four. The top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed sides, will advance to the Round of 16. All knockout matches will be single-elimination, with extra time and penalties if necessary.
Youth-led protests
The ticket launch comes amid weeks of youth-led protests in several Moroccan cities — including Rabat, Casablanca, and Agadir — where demonstrators have voiced anger over rising living costs, unemployment, and poor public services.
The protests, which have occasionally turned violent, highlight growing frustration over government spending priorities. Critics argue that authorities are investing heavily in hosting major sporting events such as AFCON while neglecting urgent social needs.
Despite the unrest, CAF insists the tournament will proceed as scheduled.
"Morocco is plan A, Morocco is plan B, and Morocco is plan C," said CAF President Patrice Motsepe last week.
"CAF will cooperate and work with the government and all the citizens of Morocco to host the most successful AFCON in history."
