Kakamega Homeboyz lead tight title race ahead of weekend fixtures

As the race for early-season dominance intensifies, league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz remain at the summit with 13 points, one ahead of Gor Mahia and two clear of Posta Rangers.

The SportPesa League enters round seven this weekend, with three fixtures set to light up the calendar today, Saturday, November 1, across various venues.

As the race for early-season dominance intensifies, league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz remain at the summit with 13 points, one ahead of Gor Mahia and two clear of Posta Rangers.

At the opposite end of the table, APS Bomet continue to struggle, rooted to the bottom with just three points, one behind Murang’a Seal and Kenya Police FC, the latter having played only two matches so far.

The day’s headline fixture will be the late kickoff clash between Shabana FC and Kariobangi Sharks at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, starting at 4:00 pm.

Under-fire Shabana coach Peter Okidi finds himself in the spotlight after a four-match winless streak, including three consecutive home defeats. With fan frustration mounting, Okidi will be desperate to deliver a positive result to ease the pressure.

Sharks, meanwhile, are equally hungry for redemption. The William Muluya-led side has managed just one win from five outings this season and will be eyeing Shabana’s shaky form as a chance to bounce back and climb the standings.

Elsewhere, Nairobi United return to domestic duty at Dandora Stadium, where they host Sofapaka FC from 3:00 pm. Fresh off their historic qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup group stage, after eliminating Tunisian giants Etoile Sportive du Sahel, the Naiboi outfit will be hoping to carry their continental momentum into the local league.

Sofapaka, on the other hand, have endured a rough patch following the departure of key players at the start of the campaign. With just five points from as many matches, Batoto ba Mungu will be determined to reverse their fortunes against the league newcomers.

In the early kickoff at 1:00 pm, Mara Sugar will host Bandari FC at the Awendo Green Stadium. Both sides share identical records, one win, one loss, and three draws, setting the stage for a tightly contested affair. Mara will be banking on home advantage to secure maximum points, while the coastal Dockers aim to make their long trip to Awendo worthwhile with an away victory.
