To kick off the weekend, Gideon Starlets will be hoping to finally get off the mark after a rough start to life in the top tier. They face a Zetech Sparks side looking to recover from a narrow 1–0 home defeat to Ulinzi Starlets last weekend.
Zetech have shown flashes of quality in attack but must sharpen their finishing if they are to climb the standings.
Gideon, who suffered a 6–0 loss to Kenya Police Bullets last time out, will be counting on home support to inspire a response. However, Zetech’s pace and technical quality might prove too much for the struggling hosts.
At Comboni Pily grounds, Trinity Starlets will be confident heading into this fixture after holding Kibera Soccer Women to a goalless draw last weekend. The Gilgil-based side remains unbeaten in three matches and will fancy their chances against bottom-placed Kisped Queens, who have conceded 13 goals in three games.
Faith Cherotich and Lydia Adhiambo will be key for Trinity as they look to take full advantage of home ground. Kisped, meanwhile, will need to tighten up defensively to stand a chance of getting a result.
On Sunday, the weekend’s headline clash sees two title contenders go head-to-head. Vihiga Queens and Ulinzi Starlets are both unbeaten, and this fixture could have early implications in the title race.
Vihiga, with a perfect record so far and a powerful attack led by Martha Amunyolet, will test Ulinzi’s disciplined defence that has conceded just once this season. Ulinzi, buoyed by their 1–0 win over Zetech Sparks, will rely on experience and tactical balance to contain Vihiga’s attacking threat.
In another match of the day, Bungoma Queens will face Kayole Starlets. Bungoma Queens enter this match with renewed belief after their first win of the season, a 2–1 midweek triumph over Soccer Assassins. However, they now face one of the league’s most in-form teams in Kayole Starlet.
Kayole have been superb since their promotion, winning back-to-back matches, including a 2–0 victory over Kisumu Allstarlets. Midfielder Ashley Shilwatso has been their standout performer, contributing four goals and an assist in just three games.
Elsewhere, defending champions Kenya Police Bullets have been in ruthless form, crushing Gideon Starlets 6–0 last week. Ugandan forward Margaret Kunihira stole the show with a hat-trick, while Lorna Nyarinda and Zaina Namuleme also impressed.
Kisumu Allstarlets, still seeking consistency, face a tough test against the reigning champions. Their defensive shape will be tested against the Bullets’ relentless attacking play. Anything other than a Bullets win would be a surprise. Kisumu Allstarlets come into the match shy from their 2-0 defeat in their previous outing against Kayole at Kasarani Annex.
Soccer Assassins will look to bounce back from their 2–1 midweek defeat to Bungoma Queens when they host Kibera Soccer Women. Kibera have been solid defensively but will need more cutting edge in attack after a goalless draw with Trinity Starlets.
