Isiolo North FC off to finals after thrashing 3-0 win over Othaya

The team will face off with Ruiru FC in the finals that will be held at the Kirigiti Stadium in Kiambu County early next month.

The Isiolo North Football Club was handed a lifeline on Sunday after thrashing Othaya FC 3-0 in the semi-finals of the Mt Kenya edition of the Moses Kuria Cup Tournament.

The team will face off with Ruiru FC in the finals that will be held at the Kirigiti Stadium in Kiambu County early next month.

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, Petroleum Principal Secretary Mohamed Liban, and Football Kenya Federation (FKF) officials and leaders from Isiolo and Nyeri counties were among those who watched the match at the Kinunga Stadium in Nyeri.

Mohamed termed sports among the activities that were keeping youth engaged, keeping them from drug and alcohol abuse.

"We need to empower youth, especially men, so that they do not get into crime and drug indulgence," he said.

The winner will receive Sh5 million, while the first runner-up will pocket Sh3 million.

A curtain-raising match between Gor Mahia FC and the AFC Leopards will usher in the finals, according to officials.

Othaya FC will fight for the third position with Ol-Kalau next Saturday in a match at the Embu Stadium.

Kuria said President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga may grace the July 7 finals.
