Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has named Patrick Korir as its interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO), following the resignation of Barry Otieno. Otieno, who stepped down on Tuesday, ended his five-year stint as General Secretary at Kandanda House.
Appointed FKF CEO in 2019 after the exit of Robert Muthomi, who faced allegations of abuse of office, Otieno had earlier served as the federation's head of communications for over three years.

In an official statement, FKF confirmed Korir’s appointment, revealing that he was selected from Nairobi City Stars to take up the interim CEO role. Korir, a familiar figure in Kenyan football, previously held a similar role at City Stars and has experience as both a journalist and coordinator of the Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom tournament.
"Patrick Korir has been swiftly appointed as the interim CEO, effective immediately. He brings a wealth of experience from his time in football management, journalism, and coordination, ensuring a smooth transition in FKF’s leadership," the statement read.
Korir will serve as interim CEO until the current term concludes in December. Meanwhile, Nairobi City Stars are expected to announce a new CEO soon to avoid any conflicts of interest.
There is also speculation about whether Otieno will contest for an elective position in the upcoming FKF elections, with his name previously linked to the top post, though he has not yet declared his intentions officially.
